What is OQCC?

The Ontario Queer Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit, member-driven organization that supports 2SLGBTQIA+ entrepreneurs, professionals, creatives, and allied organizations across Ontario. We create opportunities for connection, learning, and collaboration through events, programming, and regional hubs.

Why is it called the ‘Queer’ Chamber of Commerce?

Queer is a term being widely used and reclaimed within 2SLGBTQIA+ communities for its inclusiveness, as it may refer to the spectrum of non-heterosexual and/or non-cisgender people. ‘Queer’ is also used as an identity term by some individuals. It is important to note that this is a reclaimed term that was, and sometimes still is, used as a hate term and as such individual 2SLGBTQI+ feel comfortable being referred to as Queer.

Membership

Who can join OQCC?

OQCC membership is open to 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals, creatives, entrepreneurs, and self-employed individuals across Ontario, as well as allied organizations that support queer communities and businesses.

Is OQCC only for people in Toronto or the GTA?

No. OQCC operates across Ontario and actively builds regional hubs outside the GTA to support local connection and participation. We also offer online networking opportunities and members-only resources, so that people can stay involved from anywhere in the province. Having members across Ontario helps us better advocate for and respond to the needs of underserved communities!

Do I need to be a member to attend OQCC events?

Not always! Many events are open to the public, while some are reserved for members or offered at a discounted rate for members.

Regional Hubs

What are OQCC regional hubs?

Regional hubs are locally focused OQCC communities outside the GTA that host events and activities tailored to their region. OQCC currently has active hubs in Hamilton, London, and Thunder Bay, with more regions planned.

How can my organization partner with OQCC?
